Resident drooling masses here. Any idea when the next release with the DB will be available for download? I have windows 8.1 and it seems there is no easy way for me to test drive it.

Noticed that there isn't a separate support thread for the newly merged blockchain database (what everyone calls the "blockchain"). So here we go; post any questions and results that you have.
Note: it appears that the respective pull request has already been merged into bitmonerod/master!
i am using the build since two weeks and i like it. it still uses a lot of ram after it has run a while - but its all chaching now ;) i did not yet update to the new master, but i am satisfied with the results.
