This is a known issue with 0.8.8.6 - you can build the current source from github (not too difficult, instructions in the README:) or wait until we've tagged and released the next version.

hi normal user here,
im running 0.8.8.6 on a windows virtual machine. win8.
wallets are from the early days. i dont have seed words to recreate the wallet. just passwords on them.
i sync up, run simplewallet, says i should enter my password, i do and the wallet is opened.
now says i have a deprecated version of the wallet and should upgrade and select a language, i pick english. client crashes/closes.
what should i do? thanks
